Christ Church football to raise money for Pilgrims Hospice

Canterbury Christ Church University's football society are set to hold a tournament to raise money for Pilgrims Hospice.

The event will take place Wednesday 4 May, at the universities sports facility at Stodmarsh. Sixteen teams will compete in the cup which will raise money for the Kent charity.


Teams include those within the Universities Intramural league and those who compete in the British, Universities & College Sports (BUCS) league. The day is a repeat of last years tournament


The university held the event last year which raised just under £300 got Pilgrims Hospice.


Pilgrims Hospice  is regarded as the leading provider of hospice and specialist palliative care, the care is provided at three main sites in Kent, with the founding site in Canterbury.


The hospice, which has just appointed a new chaplain, is always getting donations from those raising money for them. They are hosting a charity bike ride on the Sunday 8 May to raise money for the hospice.


Discovering Canterbury spoke to captain of C4 rejects Samuel Francis and Joanne Spiteri the youth fundraising coordinator for Pilgrims about the upcoming day.
